OSCE military observers released in joint human rights mission with Secretary General Jagland

Strasbourg, 03.05.2014 - The OSCE international military observers previously held in Slovyansk were handed over to Council of Europe Secretary General Jagland this morning by Vladimir Lukin, former human rights ombudsman of Russia, at a checkpoint on the boundary of the city. Mr Jagland and Mr Lukin had agreed to travel together to Slovyansk in a joint human rights mission to release the international military observers.

"I am relieved this mission succeeded, because it is so important to protect the work of international organisations and observers," said Secretary General Jagland.
