Secretary General Jagland makes official visit to Austria and the OSCE

Strasbourg, 23.10.2013 – Council of Europe Secretary General Thorbjørn Jagland is making an official visit to Austria from 23-24 October.

In his discussions with Foreign Minister Spindelegger and President Fischer the Secretary General underlined the importance of the Austrian chairmanship's priorities, in particular media freedom, combatting human trafficking and education in democratic citizenship. They also discussed the significance of the Council of Europe ministerial conference in May 2014 which will launch the debate on the Secretary General's first annual report on the state of human rights in Europe.


On Thursday, the Secretary General will make a presentation to the OSCE Permanent Council and meet with Ambassador Igor Prokopchuk, Permanent Representative Chairman of the Permanent Council.
