Parliamentary Assembly President to make official visit to Switzerland

Strasbourg, 09.09.2013 – Jean-Claude Mignon, President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), will make an official visit to Switzerland from 10 to 12 September 2013, during which he will meet in Berne the Presidents of both houses of parliament (National Council and Council of States), the Vice-President of the Federal Council and Head of the Federal Foreign Affairs Department, as well as the Swiss delegation to the PACE.

 

In Geneva, working meetings are scheduled with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, and with representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross and of the Inter-Parliamentary Union.

 

The President of the PACE will also make a presentation on the topic of “Challenges and opportunities for human rights in Europe: role of the Council of Europe” at a Geneva Diplomatic Club conference.
